Adalina Sustainable Fashion Show

I am very much a fan of designers trying to be more sustainable. I am even more of a fan when the looks turn out to be beautifully bold. The Adalina Sustainable Fashion Show featured designers Threads of Habit, Maria Maurio, MMichelle, and From the Topp. It was a pretty good range of styles – from light airy fabrics to vibrant colors and textures.

I also loved that there was a good showing of androgynous models and gender-bending looks, which added some extra food for thought into the mix.

Plus, might I add that the floor art in the venue was amazing?

As for the fabrics, most were thin and flowing, making them perfect for New York’s more hot and humid summers.

I have to say that I loved the headband for the below look. It gave off anime samurai vibes with a hippie twist:

Plus, the patterns! There were light pastel flower prints along with bolder bursts of red and orange.

And then, the textures. There were expertly ruched edges and an amazing blend of sequins with tulle and a burlap sack bag:

The jackets and pants sported miniature works of art on their backs and sides:

This knitted pieces shown next were absolute gems:

And for the finale? Dramatic gowns with layers of bold color:

And a semi-transparent skirt:

I should also mention that VIP guests received excellent gift bags with Max Brenner chocolates, David’s Tea, 3rd-i water (which I am now a huge fan of), Jo Malone perfume, and some other goodies. It was certainly the best gift bag I’ve received this NYFW. That aside, this show gave me hope that tides are slowly turning within the fashion industry to a more sustainable future. This show alone proved that sustainable hardly equates to boring.
